Ivanov is tired. Not yet forty and already he seems to have gotten hung up. His wife Anna is incurably ill, his admirer Sasha creates a heroic role for himself by trying to drag him out of his depression. Whoever wants to start a conversation with him seems to fall on deaf ears.
