A young artist abandons his artistic activity and retreats to a mountain village, where he stays with a minister. The impressive setting of the community in which he has ended up, induce in him a high sensitivity. But what is initially soothing and inspiring begins to turn against him more and more. He is plagued by existential and other questions. Especially the incomprehensibility of suffering and death inflames him.
